REXpectations

Our club has coined the term REXpectations to symbolize what we desire to become. Our desire is simply to excel in all aspects of engineering. We wish to learn and grow as a team and individually by building the most technical robot possible. We will interact with our mentors as often as possible to become exceptional candidates for engineering positions.

During robot build we design our robot to carry out the most difficult functions possible. We know that we can be very successful building a defensive robot or a robot that does the simple functions of the game very well, but we would rather build a robot that can do the most difficult functions even if we are not as successful as we could be with a simpler design. We do this to learn problem solving and the technical aspects to a very high degree.

One of our REXpectations is that all club members will become very involved in all aspects of robot build to increase the learning curve. Even if a club member doesn't directly build a component they should know why it was designed the way it was and understand it's strengths and weaknesses. To fit the goal of learning all we can, we constantly seek the advice of our mentors but we hold ourselves responsible for robot construction. The only components we don't build are the ones we are physically incapable of building.

We also try to incorporate the latest technology and maximize the information we must gather. Last year we developed a wireless automated scouting system that predicted the outcome of matches. As the season developed it became clear that it was very effective, in many cases unfortunately predicting our losses accurately.

Our new website is a shining example of how our REXpectations are displayed. Even though our existing website was an award winning website we have updated it for a cleaner, more aesthetic look. We are constantly examining what we do to make everything fit our REXPECTATIONS!
