Discussing the Robot

The 2009 Game

Lunacy is played on a 54'x27' low friction field designed to simulate the one sixth gravity field on Earth's Moon. This year robots will have trailers attached, with two alliances of three teams each, competing to collect Moon Rocks and distribute them in opposing teams' trailers.

Matches are 2 minutes and 15 seconds in length, with the first 15 seconds under autonomous control. Robots must be programmed during this time to achieve a set of goals set by the team. The next two minutes drivers assume control for this hectic game. Human players and robots will each be flinging Moon Rocks everywhere, in an attempt to fill the opposing alliance's trailers. Empty Cells can be exchanged for Super Cells, which count for 15 points apiece in the last 20 seconds of the match. Each Moon Rock counts score counts for 2 points.
